Hi, I'm Mrs R - but you can call me Jessica, we're all friends here!

I run Mrs R's Retro Roadshow, a mobile disco which only plays 7" vinyl singles: bangers and bops, songs that slap, tunes that tickle, discs to fill a dancefloor with hits from the 50s right through to the 90s.

Born in the 70s, and growing up in the 80s I watched Top Of The Pops and The Chart Show religiously - not to mention listening to Radio 1 and more. As the 90s approached I sat for hours with Atlantic 252 on the stereo and let me tell you, there were some absolute hits around!

Now I play records so people can dance and have a great time!

Hold on, it's really played from actual 7" records...?

For sure! I usually bring along at least 1200 singles from disco, rock, pop and indie floorfillers right through to Northern Soul, metal, punk and ska - not forgetting the final smoochies of the night. There are styles for everyone!

A classic disco light rig as well?

Absolutely - many of the lights I bring along are original 70s and 80s disco lights, refurbished and brought in line with current safety standards.

Light boxes, pin spots, moving heads and even a smoke machine can all be included in a night, anywhere from 2m wide up to 4m dependent on venue and requirements.

I even carry lights which were used on one of Kylie Minogue's tours - that's a proper 80s link for you right there!

Do you take requests?

A lot of DJs nowadays don't do them - but this is Mrs R's Retro Roadshow. If you want to dance then I'll build a night around you every time, and that includes requests.

Basically if it was released on 7" vinyl and it's in the boxes, it can be on the decks.

...yes, even Agadoo if you really want.

Can I come to a night before I book?

Sure! Why not come to one of my regular open dancefloor nights? They're public discos in Wakefield which usually alternate between The Red Shed and The Polka Hop, all listed in the event diary.

Come join the family, it'd be awesome to see you.

How much do you charge?

It honestly depends on distance, how long the event is, and a couple of other things too, so when you get in touch please provide as much detail as possible (even if it's provisional!).

Please note: I don't do childrens' parties or birthdays under 25 years old.

Great! So, how do I enquire about booking you?

Simple - hit the enquiry button below to drop me a line and we'll take it from there!
