We get asked quite a bit about the logistics of booking the Roadshow. This page has answers to many of the questions you might have.

Music is the heart of what we do at Mrs R's Retro Roadshow - it's what gets folk dancing, and makes sure we're all having a smashing time.
We play all our music from 7" vinyl singles, split into genres such as pop charts, rock, disco, Motown, Northern Soul, punk, ska, etc. with discs from the 50s all the way up to the early 00s. If there is a particular genre or era you'd like us to concentrate on then please let us know in advance, as we can bulk those out.
Requests are welcome at a gig, but even with almost 2,000 records in our touring boxes it's always subject to what we carry. If there are songs you'd really like us to play please let us know in good time, as we may have those discs in the standby boxes. It gives us time to try and acquire them if not.
Likewise, if you want us to avoid any particular songs or genres, please shout up!
We really want your show to be a success, and like to present a consistent image.
The Promoter Resources Page has a variety of images, logos and video to use but don't hesitate to write if you need posters or flyer and promo templates in various file formats. We appreciate good design, whether it's professional or just made from the heart, but we're not keen on AI art.
The full name for the Roadshow is Mrs R's Retro Roadshow.
Unless informed otherwise we'll assume the local venue or promoter is responsible for social media events, but please add Mrs R's Retro Roadshow (link) as co-host on Facebook events then we can advertise public events to our own fans.
So we can co-ordinate our own online PR for public events, please advise of any embargo on dates and give an estimate on when your show might be announced. If we don't know, we'll assume it's immediately public and add an entry to our event guide.
A stage area of approximately 4 metres wide and 2.5 metres deep is required, although we will do our best to work with any space constraints there may be.
A minimum of 60 minutes (preferably 90 minutes) should be allowed for setting up and 60 minutes for packing up and vacating the premises, ideally before the public are admitted.
For larger gigs in new venues we'll insist on a site visit first, to work out power hookups, stage suitability and such. While for the most part we can compensate for bouncy floors, there may be situations where we need to carry extra weights to keep the records from skipping. That's why we like to visit a venue first!
A site visit also enables us to check whether the venue is at ground level or there are stairs/a suitable lift.
Some venues require us to provide certain documentation - PAT records, PLI certificates, etc. which are all part of our Venue Pack. While we can provide these at time of booking, it's recommended that we provide these close to the date so they have maximum validity. While we usually discuss with venues at time of site visit, please ask if you need these sooner.
We have a vintage 1970s/80s lighting rig with many incandescent lamps up to 60W load, so even the smallest corner-of-a-bar rig pulls approx 4A with PA. Our largest stage rig (excluding PA) pulls 12.8A with all lamps lit.
Please make sure we have at least 2x 13A domestic (BS1363) sockets for our use. These must be separate and not broken out from a single extension cable. Hopefully this doesn't need to be said but we're saying it anyway: we cannot run the whole rig from a single 13A domestic socket!
Larger rigs with PA require at least 4x 13A (BS1363) domestic sockets excluding any PA. If in doubt, talk to us first.
Alternatively with advance notice we can hook up to blue 16A CEE Commando ("caravan plug"), blue 32A CEE Commando, red 16A 3P+N+E 5-pin CEE Commando ("small industry") or red 3P+N+E CEE 5-pin Commando ("big industry") sockets. These are our hook-up of choice for large venues. We currently have no facilities to support 63A CEE hook-ups.
If you are running an outdoor or marquee event, you must let us know in advance as other safety measures apply.
We need a completely flat area for the stage, and may need to use stage decking. In all cases, the performance/stage area must be covered.
